East Haddam is a wonderful town full of history and intrigue. With 57 square miles, it is one of the Connecticut largest towns and includes the villages known as Moodus and Hadlyme. Located on the Connecticut River, it is accessed from the west via the landmark East Haddam swing bridge which delivers you to a vibrant East Haddam center, home to the Goodspeed Opera House as well as many restaurants and shops that attract visitors year round. Other East Haddam attractions include a small airport on the Connecticut River, Lake Hayward, Lake Bashan and Moodus Reservoir, as well as Gillette's Castle and a ferry that runs to Chester. There are many well maintained historic homes in the area. A free summer concert series on the River is well attended by residents and visitors alike.
